Biography.
Suzana holds a Ph.D. in History and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and earned a B.A. in History and Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan. Her work focuses on the nexus between culture and politics, and has been funded by numerous grants and fellowships. A freelance writer, editor and literary translator, her work has appeared in a range of both popular and academic publications. In her writing, research, and translation work, Suzana aims to center the voices of historically underrepresented and marginalized persons, including women and authors from what are considered “minor” languages and literatures. Formerly, she served as a research editor at EuropeNow. In 2022, she received an ALTA Virtual Travel Fellowship. She is a 2018 alumna of the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference and a 2025 alumna of the Bristol Translates Literary Translation Summer School. Currently, she teaches in the Program in Albanian and Southeast European Studies at DePaul University in Chicago.
